Antique 1917 Dutch Silver Colonial Style Hand Chased Centerpiece Cabinet Bowl
Presented is an antique, Dutch sterling silver centerpiece, fruit or cabinet/display bowl made in 1917. This early 20th century piece is done in a Dutch Colonial style and the whole thing is completely hand chased with intricate genre scenes of families and friends, eating, playing music and playing around the dinner table. This is an amazing quality piece and all of the raised designs are very detailed. There are very interesting, gargoyle-like faces between the scenes.
The bowl bears the lion passant guaranteeing a minimum of 833 purity silver, a date letter H for the year 1917 and a maker's mark. The underside is marked sterling (this was most likely done much later after production when someone tested the silver purity.)
This piece is in excellent overall condition and the designs are crisp.
