Fine quality Danish Baroque silver tankard, 1688. Drum form with 3 splayed split-pomegranate supports. Engraved armorial. Cover hinged and inset with gilt coin issued during reign of Christian IV (1588-1648). Scroll handle with cast lion rampant thumb rest and figural cap in form of Classical face with flowing tresses and flowers. Gilt-washed interior. Fully marked including the Three Tower (that is, Copenhagen) stamp with year and assayer?s stamp for Conrad Ludolph (1679-1729).
