    This impressive
    Norwegian
    silver serving or stuffing spoon with a shell to the handle was made around 1856 by the silversmith
    A. Olsen
    ,
    and is stamped with his maker's mark to the back of the stem, along with "Pröve" (meaning assayed) and "13 1/4" [loths], indicating a silver purity of 82.8%
    .
    The reverse of the handle is engraved in script "E.N. Erindring af
    [a reminder of/in memory of]
    E.S. 1856". This wonderful spoon remains in
    excellent antique condition
    with surface wear consistent with age.
