Description
This set of four sterling silver spoons comes from the estate of a lifelong collector. The three 5" tea or coffee spoons were made by the Swedish Silversmith Frans Holm. Frans Holm took over his father's shop in Vadstena, Sweden in the mid-1800's. The fourth spoon which is 5 1/2 inches long has a very similar pattern and the same monogram (ATS) as the 5" spoons but the initials of a different maker (IW). All four spoons have the mark for the year 1856 (B5) and the Swedish hallmark for Silver objects (three crowns). Each spoon is slightly different in its shape and contour which suggests that each was made one at a time. They are in excellent condition with regular wear and tear for items of this age except that one of the 5" spoons has a bend/crease toward the handle.(Please see last photo.) The spoons together weigh about 38 grams. The 5" spoons weigh about 8 grams each and the 5 1/2" inch spoon is about 12 grams. Thank you for supporting Catholic Charities!
