    A SUPERB AND RARE PAIR OF DRAGONS HEAD BOWLS BY MARIUS HAMMER OF NORWAY c1890 These are very rare and special bowls by the famed Norwegian silversmith Marius Hammer. His work is exceedingly collectable and of the highest quality. Hammer worked in Bergen Norway between 1847 and 1927. These bowls epitomize the dragon style or national romantic style that swept the scandinavian countries around the turn of the last century. They have great lines and drama in them along with wonderful quality. Dragon head bowls have been used as drinking vessels in Norway for hundreds of years. These Viking images are beautifully translated into these small bowls! They are each 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) long and 1 5/8 inches (4.2 cm) wide. They are each hallmarked with MH for Marius Hammer and 830.
