Massive Georg Jensen Sterling Silver Tray 251 C Ebony Handles.
This impressive Jensen sterling tray is designed by Johan Rohde. It is beautifully hand wrought with marks of hand hammering visible in the finish, particularly in the large flat expanse of the trays service area. The handles are a rich dark ebony, with a scrolled design in the silver on either side. The rim of the tray features a beaded design at intervals along the edge. This tray matches the 251 tea set, but is often paired with Cosmos pattern tea sets also by Johan Rohde as well. This piece is in very good condition with no dents, no splits, monos, or repairs. There is one tiny ding(see last photo with pen pointing to it) and overall surface scratches consistent with age. This piece measures 23.5” long with handles and 16” wide. It’s 20” long without the handles. It’s so heavy none of my scales can accommodate it. When I get on a human body scale it weighs 5 pounds.
