Description
This is a unique and beautiful demitasse spoon from Norway. It is from the Norsk Salvvareindustri Company of Oslo. This company operated from 1937 to 1922. I have put scenic in the title as I did not quite know what to call this spoon. It is made of 830S silver and the hallmark shows 830S and the mark for Norsk Salvvareindustri. The front of the spoon has an image of a young woman in Norwegian costume or dress. The back of the woman is shown on the back of the spoon so this image is "double-sided". Along the handle of the spoon in front is "Gudbrandsdalen" which, by my loose translation of my poor Norwegian, is "Valley of God". There is a long and beautiful valley in the Oppland District of Norway called Gudbrandsdalen. I surmise that the figure on the spoon is in the regional dress of the Oppland District and perhaps this valley. This is a charming figure in her bunad costume. This is a very unique and lovely piece that is a great addition to a collection or to draw comments from others. This piece is in excellent condition with no damage. Ship to US only by USPS. International ship by Ebay Global Shipping.
